FAQ

1. Q:What is laser? [2008-02-04]

A:Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. is the strongest source of light ever created by man. For example, a one Milliwatt (1 mW) or one thousandth of a watt laser is about 1,000,000 times more brilliant than a 100-watt light bulb;Our laser is a cavity that has mirrors at the ends and is filled with lasable material such as crystal, glass, liquid, gas, or dye. These materials must have atoms, ions, or molecules capable of being excited to a metastable state by light, electric discharge, or other stimulus. The transition from this metastable state back to the normal ground state is accompanied by the emission of photons which form a coherent beam;

Lasers were invented around 1958 by Arthur L. Schawlow and Charles H. Townes from Bell Labs . We could explain all this but why not visit the Bell Labs ( Lucent Technologies) Website and see the Full Story including Pictures of the inventers and details of their reunion held in 1998 to Celebrate the Invention of the LASER.

2. Q:What is Nd:YAG laser and CO2 laser? [2008-02-04]

A:Nd:YAG laser is a solid-state laser of Neodymium: Yttrium Aluminum Garnet. YAG rod is a kind of precious stone,STNYAG-700 series laser sub-surface machine adopts Xenon lamp pumped Nd:YAG laser technology,the Xe lamp supplies energy to the YAG rod,then the laser comes out from the YAG rod,the wavelength of Nd:YAG laser is usually 1064nm, after the original laser beam goes through the Frequency-Doubling Crystal,its wavelength is transformed into 532nm,at this time,the colour of the laser beam becomes green, controlled by the Q-switch,the green laser can engrave very small dots inside transparent material,like crystal,glass,

CO2 laser is a UV laser and invisible,the CO2 gas is sealed in a tube,the CO2 laser is used mostly for surface engraving on all kinds of non-metals,

3. What is a point-cloud image? [2008-02-04]

Point-cloud image consists of abundant small points which are created by the special point-cloud converting software from a common two dimension or three dimension image. These points shall be engraved by laser machine according to the array order one by one. Each point will be burnt inside the transparent material, all the burnt points form the engraved image inside the crystal,
